Both our Boys and Girls Youth sections deserve credit and congratulations.
On Sunday our Girls U16 side claimed the West Youth U16 Cup following 3 weeks of matches against the other entrants, Dumfries and Annan.
The 3 Girls sides played Round-robin matches with the last series held at Hartree Mill. Having won all their previous matches Biggar had to hold their nerve to be sure of winning the competition. And this they did in fine style. SRU Glasgow North rep Peter Burgon was on hand to present the trophy to the delighted squad - see pic below.
On Wednesday our Boys Youth Convenor Laura Watson received some great news in that for season 2024/25 our Boys teams will play in the National Conference Div 2. The club fought long and hard for inclusion last season but we missed out with just one exception, that the Colts would play in this Conference.
The official reasoning was
"Having benchmarked existing National Conference clubs against the core conference criteria, as well as aspirational clubs that took part in this season’s Regional Programmes, we are pleased to confirm that Biggar shall be included in the National 2 Club Conference next season."
This is a real step up for the Boys and they will face other top club Youth sections Currie, Dumfries, Dunfermline, Ellon and Highland. Tough competition!
This is just reward for all the hard work undertaken at all age groups by some enthusiastic and determined coaching plus Biggar's traditional and very welcome great touchline support.
