We are extremely proud of our girls section at Biggar as we have an U12, 2x14s and 2xU16s girls team. Each team is thriving with their numbers with our 14s and 16s having 20 plus players. We pride ourselves on our girls as our U16s are double Scottish cup champions, winning the cup twice in 2023! We have had several players coming through our youth set up that have progressed within the game, especially Emma Orr who is a Scotland international and played her rugby at Biggar starting in primary school. We have several other girls who have represented Scotland at age grade and also the Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugbys woman’s teams with 7 ex-Biggar players representing those teams that played their rugby at Biggar. The U14 & U16 girls train on a Wednesday night 7-8:30pm and the U12 train on a Thursday night 5:45-6:45. There is also an optional Academy session on a Monday night for S1&2 girls and boys 6-7pm. Matches are on a Sunday afternoon.
The squad coaches are a committed and knowledgeable bunch with a broad range of playing and coaching experience. They have a range of SRU training qualifications from the annual Rugby Right to UKCC Level 2. All players train hard and learn the key skills and basic rugby ideas and ethos during the week and express themselves with freedom in the Sunday fixture.
