Roger Walker

Roger began his rugby journey at Tynedale, playing through the age groups into the 2nd XV before joining the Army. During his service he played regimental rugby for The Royal Scots and The Black Watch as well as for Army in Scotland. During postings away from regimental duty he joined local rugby clubs as far afield as Folkstone and Malone. He was put in at hooker for his first game at the age of 10 due to his height and shape and continued in that position until his last game 30 years later.

Roger has coached adult teams in the Army as well as running the minis at Peebles for four seasons his son moved across to play at Biggar. He took up refereeing during his final season as a player and has refereed for over 15 years as a member of Army, Borders, and Edinburgh Referees Societies.

Ready to lend a hand at whatever level and regardless of task Roger was the very obvious choice to become our referee secretary. He is determined to develop refereeing at the club and has the approach which will see him succeed.
